Tues., June 27, 2006, p. 10.Mary G. MORRISON, age 95, of Fairfield, passed away Thursday, June 22, 2006 at Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield.
Memorial services will be held 10:00 AM, Friday, June 30, 2006 at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield. Rev. Mike Metz will officiate.

Mary Gertrude Austin MORRISON was born at Oxford, Iowa on December 28, 1910. She was the fifth of eight children born to James Clayton and Nancy Matilda (LANDRETH) AUSTIN. Mary spent her childhood on a farm near Keosauqua, IA and graduated from Keosauqua High School. She attended Huff’s Business School in Kansas City and earned a two-year teaching degree from Parsons College in Fairfield. Mary taught at a Rural School for four years.
Mary was united in marriage with Warren James MORRISON on May 4, 1934 and joined him in Des Moines while he finished Medical School. The couple spent two years in Anita, IA before moving to West Bend, IA in July, 1938, where they lived for the next 38 years. She assisted her husband in the practice of medicine and surgery, and ran the household. In 1957, she completed class work from Drake University at Algona to extend her teaching certificate to include grades through 9th. Mary also found some time for Ladies Social Literary Club and the church Women’s Society, as well as the Eastern Star.
They retired in 1976 and moved to Fairfield, IA where she was involved with the Federated Women’s Club and Lionels (Ladies Auxiliary of the Lion’s Club)until her health declined. She was a life long member of the United Methodist Church.
Mary is survived by her husband, two sons, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents and all her siblings.
