Tue., Oct. 24, 2006, p. 8.E. W. “Bill” MICHAEL, 73, of Batavia, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2006, at Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield.
A service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Living Hope Bible Church in Eldon, with the Rev. David Albert officiating. Interment will be in Batavia Cemetery, with military rites conducted by O. B. Nelson American Legion Post No. 3 and Walter B. Schafer Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 775 of Ottumwa.
Open visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church with the family present from 7:30-8:30 p.m.
Memorials may be directed to Living Hope Bible Church.
Kremer Funeral Chapel in Batavia is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. MICHAEL was born March 28, 1933, in Bates City, Mo., the son of Edwin and Lillie Parton MICHAEL. He married Pam LOOMIS May 13, 1988, in Goring, Mo.
Mr. MICHAEL was raised and educated in Missouri. He moved to the Fairfield area in 1979. He was a truck driver most of his adult life and had been employed by Foodliner in Eddyville.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and had served in the Korean conflict.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Travis WHEELDON of Batavia; three daughters, Wendy MANN of Gautier, Miss., Kathy DANLEY of Newton, Ill., and Kelly STOUT of Des Moines; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Art of Arizona, Jack of New Mexico and Larry of Missouri; and two sisters, Mae AKERS of Missouri and Pat BENZ of Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mabel CLARK.
