Thurs., Sept. 21, 2006, p. 12.Jean Ann MESSER, 70, of Montezuma, died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2006, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center in Grinnell.
A service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in East Pleasant Plain, with the Rev. Charles Fladung officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in East Pleasant Plain.
Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday at Watts Funeral Home in Montezuma, with the family present from 6-8 p.m. Sunday. A Rosary service will begin at 6:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be designated in Mrs. MESSER’S name and left at the church or funeral home.
Mrs. MESSER was born June 9, 1936, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Anthony L. and Emma Fritz SUPALLA. She married Phillip A. MESSER June 11, 1955, in East Pleasant Plain.
Mrs. MESSER graduated from Pleasant Plain High School. She was co-owner of Your Super Drug in Fort Madison and Mount Pleasant.
Mrs. MESSER was a past president of Soroptimist International and was a Girl Scout, Boy Scout and Camp Fire Girls leader.
She enjoyed traveling, playing cards, politics, cooking, watching the birds and spending time at her lake home with family.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Crystalyn MESSER and Kimberlyn MESSER, both of West Des Moines; one son, Stephen MESSER and wife Sharon of Pleasant Hill; two granddaughters; and two sisters, Hazel CHUCK and Maxine PECK.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Colleen and Jacqueline; two sons, Steven Craig and Joseph; and one sister, Esther BAIRD.
