Genevieve M. MCKAY, 74, of Packwood, died at 7:30 a.m. today, Thursday, June 1, 2006, at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.

Arrangements are pending at Gould Funeral Home I Richland.

Genevieve “Jenny” MCKAY, 74, of Packwood, died at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, June 1, 2006, at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.

A service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Packwood Christian Church, with the Rev. Harlan Van Voorst and the Rev. Danny Cary officiating. Burial will be in Packwood Cemetery.

Family visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Memorials to the Packwood Christian Church building fund or Packwood Volunteer First Responders have been established.

Gould Funeral home of Richland is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. MCKAY was born June 15, 1931, north of Richland, the daughter of Ralph and Ruth Singleton HIXSON. She married Lloyd K. MCKAY Dec. 30, 1948, at her parent’s home in Ainsworth.

Mrs. MCKAY grew up in the Richland area and attended Richland schools. She was a farm homemaker who helped her husband farm until he retired in 1983. She and her husband lived on a farm north of Brighton until 1951 when they moved to a farm south of Packwood, where they lived until retiring and moving into Packwood. As a young woman, she worked at the button factory in Washington and as a waitress at Winga’s Café in Washington.

Mrs. MCKAY was a member of People’s Church of Batavia, My America Club and Packwood Christian Women’s Fellowship.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Butch MCKAY and wife Connie of Hedrick and Donald Keith MCKAY of Packwood; three grandchildren; three brothers, John HIXSON and Leonard HIXSON, both of Columbus Junction, and Dean HIXSON of New Martinsville, W. Va.; and one sister, Melvine GRAHAM of Burlington.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one infant granddaughter.
