Ada Dorothea Zeitler LAZENBY, 94, of Keosauqua passed away at 10:40 A.M. Thursday July 27, 2006 at Van Buren Good Samaritan Center, Keosauqua.

She was born March 20, 1912 to James H. and Ella Lee Brooks ZEITLER at the Zeitler family farm south of Douds, Iowa. She married David Burns LAZENBY Sept. 23, 1933 in Fairfield. He passed away Nov. 2, 1983. A life-long resident of Van Buren County, she attended Valley and Ellis rural schools and graduated from Troy High School and an art school in Chicago. She worked for Van Buren Telephone Co. for several years and retired as Deputy Van Buren County Treasurer after 25 years service in the treasurer’s office.

She was a long-time member of Keosauqua Christian Church and was active in Business and Professional Women, Izaak Walton League, Van Buren County Historical Society, Rebekahs and Pythian Sisters. She was treasurer and secretary of Fellows Cemetery Association and led tours of the Pearson House museum in Keosauqua.

Surviving are two daughters, Juanita Lee (Stanley) STRAIT of Keosauqua and Mary Ann VE (Larry COPELAND) of Libertyville, seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and two stepgreat-grandchildren. She was preceded in death in addition to her husband by her parents, four brothers, George, Asa, J. Edwin and Roe ZEITLER and two sisters, Sarah BOWMAN and Clara LAW.

Funeral services were at 10 A.M. Monday July 31, 2006 in the Keosauqua Christian Church, Raymond Lyon, minister and Rev. Bill Shewmaker officiating. Burial was in Fellows Cemetery, Keosauqua. Memorials to Van Buren County Historical Society may be left at Pedrick Funeral Home or mailed to the family at 19667 185th St., Keosauqua, IA 52565.
