Donald James LARSON, 77, of Lincoln, Neb., died Thursday, Nov. 2, 2006, at The Monarch in Lincoln.

A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at First Evangelical Covenant Church in Lincoln, with the Revs. Matt Rudeen and Ralph Sturdy officiating. Interment will be at 2 p.m. in Aurora Cemetery.

Mr. LARSON was born June 26, 1929, in Wausa, Neb., the son of Oliver E. and Amy Olson LARSON. He married Lois GREENWALL July 30, 1954, in Wausa.

Mr. LARSON grew up in Wausa, where he attended rural grade schools and graduated from Wausa High School. He attended Wayne State College, where he took two years of pre-med. He then returned to the family farm to farm for eight years, before returning to University of Nebraska Lincoln to finish his pre-med. He graduated from University of Nebraska Medical Center in 1962. He served a year internship at Bryan Hospital in Lincoln and had a practice in Lincoln for an additional year before moving to Aurora. In Aurora, he had a family practice for 21 years. He moved back to Lincoln in 1985, and was director of the Lincoln Family Practice Program for 10 years. He retired in 1995 and went to work part-time as a consultant for Nebraska Disability Department.

Mr. LARSON was involved with Boy Scouts, where he served as a Webelos Leader. He was a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, where he was on the Commission on Continuing Medical Education and also served as a delegate. He served as president of the Nebraska Academy of Family Physicians from 1978-79 and was named Family Physician of the Year in 1983. He was a member of Christian Medical Dental Association, American Board of Family Practice and Nebraska Medical Association.

Survivors include his wife; one son, David LARSON and wife RoAnne of Fairfield; one daughter Becky SCHROEDER and husband Tony of Lexington; eight grandchildren; and one sister, Lorraine MARVIN of Bloomfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
