Michael James LANG Sr., age 60, of Fairfield, died at 1:20 PM Saturday June 10, 2006 at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics.

Michael was born May 31, 1946 in Newark OH to the late Andrew LANG and Ann Evelyn Jones LANG. He served in the U.S. Navy for two years. On October 31, 1968 he married Edith PUSEY to whom he was married until 2001. Michael and Edith had one son, Michael LANG, Jr., born in 1969.

Michael Sr. began practicing Transcendental Meditation in 1973 and moved his family to Fairfield in 1975. In 1976 he traveled to France to become a teacher of T.M. and then traveled throughout New England with his family teaching T.M. In 1980 Michael and his family settled back in Fairfield. He served on staff at M.I.U. for a number of years. After working for Express Shipping Centers, Michael was employed by Books Are Fun from 1996-2001. In 2001 he started his own business coordinating corporate conferences. Michael retired in 2002 for health reasons and spent the last four years having fun with his three grandchildren. He attended most of their school functions and sporting events, always offering his support and encouragement.

Michael is survived by his former wife Edith; his son Michael and daughter-in-law Donna; three grandchildren, Ryan, Sasha & Brianna, all of Fairfield; two sisters, Pat BLAKELY and her husband Pierre FOODY of Gold Canyon, AZ; Kathy KLUGER and her husband Harry of York Maine; three brothers, Tom LANG and his wife Charlotte of Richardson, TX, David LANG and his wife Maggie of Monterey, CA and Dennis LANG and his wife Sheri of Seattle, WA. Nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends further survive him.

Visitation will be held at 6:00 PM-7:30 PM, Thursday, June 15, 2006 at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield. At 7:30 a celebration of Michael’s life will follow, at which time friends and family will have an opportunity to talk about their lives with Michael.
