Jerome George KROGMEIER, 85, of Mount Pleasant, died Saturday, May 20, 2006, at Arbor Court.

A funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Saint Alphonsus Catholic Church, with the Rev. Nick Adam officiating. Burial will be in Saint Alphonsus Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at noon Tuesday at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mount Pleasant, where a Knights of Columbus Rosary will be at 6 p.m. Family visitation will follow the rosary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Saint Alphonsus Catholic Church or Great River Hospice.

Mr. KROGMEIER was born Feb. 6, 1921, in Fort Madison, the son of Stephen A. and Catherine Hermes KROGMEIER. He married Gertrude E. FRAISE May 5, 1942, in Saint Paul, Iowa.

Mr. KROGMEIER grew up in the Fort Madison area. He was a farmer and farmed in the Salem, West Point and Fairfield areas. He moved to Mount Pleasant in 1967 and farmed there until his health kept him from farming during he past few years.

Mr. KROGMEIER was a member of Saint Alphonsus Catholic Church.

He liked playing with his grandchildren, hunting and playing cards with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife; six sons, Marvin KROGMEIER and wife Karen of Mount Pleasant, Melvin KROGMEIER and wife Beverly of Salem, Orville KROGMEIER and wife Tracy of West Point, Rodger KROGMEIER and wife Karen of Lockridge, Gregory KROGMEIER and wife Cindy of Mount Pleasant and Louis KROGMEIER and wife Rosie of Mount Pleasant; one daughter, Monica and husband Gene KLOPFENSTEIN of Wayland; one brother, Francis “Charlie” KROGMEIER of Fort Madison; one sister, Emerald of Niota, Ill.; 20 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and three stepgreat-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Mary Lou TOUSIGNANT; four brothers Peter KROGMEIER, Paul KROGMEIER, Albert KROGMEIER and Alfred “Sam” KROGMEIER; and five sisters, Edith BRANDT, Hilda FEDLER, Cornelia THOMAS, Josephine WAGNER and Irma BERGMEIER.
