Tues., Sept. 26, 2006, p. 10.Cecelia Bernadetta O’Brien HOWARD, 91, died Monday morning, Sept. 25, 2006, at Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield.
A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at New Life Community Church in Fairfield, with the Rev. Jim McGaffey officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Fairfield.
Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield.
Memorials may be made to Jefferson County Hospice or the Fairfield Public Library and may be sent to 2095 227th Ave., Fairfield 52556.

Mrs. HOWARD was born April 15, 1915, in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, the daughter of Edward William and Georgia Jackson O’BRIEN. She married Rollin Jay HOWARD Sept. 8, 1933, at Methodist Parsonage in Fairfield. He died Feb. 19, 1991.
Mrs. HOWARD was the oldest of 15 children; her family moved to the United States in 1923, when she was 8 years old. She lived in Fairfield for more than 80 years. In addition to being a homemaker, she was employed as a nursing assistant at Nelson Nursing Home and Parkview Care Center, beginning in 1959. She had also been a cook at Nelson Nursing Home and the Senior Citizen’s Center. She retired in 1993.
Mrs. HOWARD was a member of Free Methodist Church. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, baby-sitting, and helping others.
Survivors include five children, Wilma PARSONS and husband James of Colorado Springs, Colo., Rollin HOWARD and wife Jean of Fairfield, Kenneth HOWARD of Ontario, Calif., Shirley MORRIS and husband Ron of Eureka, Mont., and Edward HOWARD and wife Sue of Fairfield; one daughter-in-law, Kitty Howard SARGENT of Kansas City, Mo.; three sisters, Barbara KNAPPER of Hackensack, Minn., Sara Ann LEUDT of the Quad Cities and Rose Marie ROGERS of LeClaire; one brother, Edward O’BRIEN Jr. of Moline, Ill.; 19 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and 10 siblings, Laurence O’BRIEN, Marguerite GILL, Ernest O’BRIEN, Terrance O’BRIEN, Cloyde O’BRIEN, Joyce APPLEBY, Patricia CALDWELL, Caroline DURAND, Donald O’BRIEN and Frances Ellen O’BRIEN.
