Virlan HARTMAN, 81, of Fairfield, died at 6:29 a.m. today, Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2006, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Arrangements are pending at Behner Funeral Home and Crematory in Fairfield.

Virlan HARTMAN, 81, of Fairfield, died Wednesday morning, Sept. 27, 2006, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

A funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Central Baptist Church in Fairfield, with the Rev. Raymond Ellerd officiating. Burial will follow in Burge Cemetery in New London.

Family visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may to be made to Fairfield Senior Citizen Center and sent to 412 North B St., Fairfield 52556.

Mrs. HARTMAN was born June 20, 1925, in Coffeeville, Miss., the daughter of Elbert Lee and Velma Ollie Petty GRIMES. She married Richard Allen HARTMAN March 7, 1975, in Quincy, Ill.

Mrs. HARTMAN lived 37 years in the Fairfield community. She was employed as a nurse’s aide at Parkview Care Center and Nelson Nursing Home.

Her interests included flowers and playing bingo at the Senior Citizen Center.

Survivors include her husband; three children, Karleen CLARK and husband Tom of Glenwood Springs, Colo., Dianne FOREMAN of Fairfield and Lorraine HILL and husband Ryan of Fairfield; five stepsons, Richard HARTMAN II of Florida, Larry HARTMAN of Texas, Mitchell HARTMAN of Oklahoma, Bruce HARTMAN of Kansas and Jeff HARTMAN of Ottumwa; seven grandchildren; 10 stepgrandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; three brothers, Johnney GRIMES of Alabama, James GRIMES and Jimmy GRIMES, both of Mississippi.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Dorothy HANKS.
