Fairy Esther HARRIS, 90, of Fairfield, formerly of Bloomfield, died Monday, June 26, 2006 at Nelson Nursing Home in Fairfield.

She was born November 1, 1915 in rural Davis County to Andrew and Martha Smith HOPKINS. Fairy married Marion J. McGHGHY on March 29, 1934 in Davis County; he died September 7, 1945. She then married George HARRIS on January 29, 1955 in Ottumwa, Iowa, He died June 11, 1964.

Fairy was a cook for many years retiring from Howdee’s Café in Fairfield, Iowa. She lived for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and was a generous person, always baking to share with all her family and friends She moved into the Logan Apartments in June of 1978 and was the last of the original residents to leave due to health.

She is survived by a daughter, Barbara ROMINGER and husband Ron of Fairfield, a son in law, Larry CHRISTY of Mt Pleasant, four grandchildren: Teri BISHOP and her husband Jerry, Deb FRITZ and her husband Greg, Michael CHRISTY and his wife Deborah and Kara McELROY and her husband Rob, 12 great grandchildren: Matthew, Bradley and Beth BISHOP, Sarah and Trisha FRITZ, Katie and Emma CHRISTY, Bridget and Bethany THORNHILL and Derek, Cody and Will HEDGECOCK, and a sister, Opal SCULLY of Ottumwa, Iowa.

She is preceded in death by her husbands, a daughter Della CHRISTY and seven brothers, Walter, Delbert, Lewis, Charlie, Miner, Lawrence and Orris HOPKINS; two sisters; Clarrisa DOLL and Nellie HERTEEN.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am Friday, June 30, 2006 at the Henkenius-Priester Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastor Keevin Koch officiating. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Bloomfield.

Visitation will be open after 4 pm Thursday at the First Christian Church in Fairfield with the family present to receive friends from 6 till 8 pm, and the family will be present to receive friends Friday from 10 am till time of service at the Henkenius-Priester Funeral Home in Bloomfield.

Fairy was a member of the Bloomfield Christian Church. A memorial has been established to Bloomfield Christian Church or First Christian Church of Fairfield.
