Pearl Lavon HARGROVE, 95, of Milton died at 7:58 p.m. Tuesday, July 4, 2006, at Van Buren Good Samaritan Center in Keosauqua.

A service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Milton Christian Church, with the Rev. Justin DeVries officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery in Milton.

Open visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with a PEO service at 7 p.m. followed by family visitation until 8:30 p.m.

Memorials to PEO Iowa Project Fund may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 15235 235th St., Milton 52570.

Mrs. HARGROVE was born March 14, 1911, on a farm east of Milton, the daughter of William and Jennie Amend ROBY. She married J. Glen HARGROVE Oct. 15, 1962, in Rolla, Mo. He died March 13, 1975.

Mrs. HARGROVE graduated from Milton High School in 1929. She attended Fort Madison Business College and worked at a dairy in Fort Madison. She later moved back to Milton and worked as a clerk in Rowland’s Department Store for many years. She was a postal clerk at Milton Post Office until her retirement. She had traveled across the world and spent many years caring for her relatives and ill friends.

Mrs. HARGROVE was a member of Milton Christian Church and its women’s society. She was a 50-year member of Twin City Chapter No. 258 Order of Eastern Star in Douds and a 69-year member of Chapter AD PEO in Milton.

She enjoyed cooking, crocheting and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include one stepdaughter, Virginia FLORA of Erie, Pa.; one stepson, Donald HARGROVE and wife Mary Eleanor of Milton; two step-grandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Vera DAVIS; and one brother, Bernie ROBY.
