Doris M. Allerdice HARDER, 71, died Thursday, July 6, 2006, at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Amana.

The funeral was Monday at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel in Vinton, with the Rev. David Snyder officiating. Burial was in New Sweden Lutheran Cemetery northwest of Lockridge.

Memorials may be made to Newhall First Responders and Central Presbyterian Church in Newhall.

Mrs. HARDER was born Jan. 7, 1935, in Lockridge, the daughter of Alex and Violet Engwall ALLERDICE.

Mrs. HARDER graduated from Fairfield High School in 1953. She then attended Burlington School of Nursing and served as a registered nurse at the hospital in Keosauqua and at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. She retired in 1993.

Mrs. HARDER was a member of Central Presbyterian Church in Newhall. She also was a member of Rebecca Circle, American Legion Auxiliary and Vinton Country Club.

She enjoyed golfing and bowling.

Survivors include her husband, Carl of Newhall; two children, Alan HARDER and wife Karen of Indianola and Kate PANTEL and husband Scott of Iowa City; four grandchildren; and one brother, Jim ALLERDICE of Fairfield.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Norma ALLERDICE.
