James Michael “Jim” EMRY, 58, of Brighton died Sunday, May 14, 2006, at his home in Brighton.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in East Pleasant Plain, with the Rev. Marty Goetz officiating. Burial will be in Sandy Hook Cemetery, north of Brighton.

Family visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, followed by Prayers for a Christian Wake at 8 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice or a general memorial may be left at the church or mailed to the family.

Arrangements are in the care of Gould Funeral Home in Brighton.

Mr. EMRY was born April 10, 1948, in Washington to Austin Pard and Olive Stalder EMRY. He married Barbara RICH April 17, 1970, and they later divorced. He married Joyce Baker SCHEELER March 19, 1999, in Brighton.

Mr. EMRY attended the Walnut country school, moved into Brighton in 1961 and attended grade school in Brighton. He graduated from Washington High School in 1966. He also attended Southeast Community College in Burlington and graduated from Mason City College of Auctioneering. He was employed by Fairfield Engineering for several years and by Crane Company in Washington for 15 years. He was an auctioneer for 23 years, during which time he owned EMRY Auction Service in Brighton and conducted car auctions in Moline, Rockford, Mount Vernon, Mediapolis and Gulfport.

Mr. EMRY enlisted in the Iowa National Guard in 1970 and served two years.

Survivors include his wife of Brighton; one daughter, Shelly MOORE of Fairfield; one son, Craig EMRY and wife Kelly of Brighton; one stepdaughter, Keri KNUTSEN and husband Erick of Center Point; one stepson, Kyle SCHEELER and wife Katie of Center Point; four grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and one sister, Dolores NASH of Wentzville, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Brandy; and one brother, Fred EMRY.
