Dorothy EGAN, 88, died Saturday, April 22, 2006, in Ames.

A parish vigil will begin at 6:30 p.m. today at Saint Malachy’s Catholic Church in Madrid. Mass for Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church. A graveside service will tentatively be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Fairfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Food for the Poor or Covenant House. Donations made payable to either organization may be sent in care of Adam’s Funeral Home, 502 Douglas Ave., Ames 50010.

Mrs. EGAN was born Jan. 13, 1918, in Wapello, the daughter of Robert and Geneva NELSON. She married Harry EGAN in 1945. He died in 1961.

Mrs. EGAN moved to Fairfield, where she lived for more than 40 years after her marriage.

Mrs. EGAN was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

She had traveled the world and enjoyed her family.

Survivors include four children, Barbara EGAN and husband Jim of Columbia, Mo., Diana EGAN of Ames, John LEE-EGAN and wife Liz of Huxley and Ginny EGAN of Ames; seven grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; and two great-grandchildren.
