Page 1, Column 3J. SHANSTROM PASSED AWAY YESTERDAY
Funeral services to be held Friday at 4:00 p.m.Jacob SHANSTROM, 62, well known Jefferson county farmer, passed away at his home five miles northwest of Fairfield last evening at 7:15 p.m. He was born in Iowa, Jan. 16, 1877.
Mr. SHANSTROM had been in failing health for the past three years and seriously ill for the past six weeks.
Surviving relatives include his wife, three children, Florence, Richard SHANSTROM at home and Mrs. Madeline THOMAS of Fairfield; one brother, Isaac SHANSTROM, Fairfield; one sister, Della SHANSTROM of Seattle, Washington. A sister, Miss Etta SHANSTROM passed away a few months ago in Seattle.
The body was taken to the Hoskins Funeral home. Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15 at the funeral home in charge of Rev. S. P. Williamson. Interment will be in the Evergreen cemetery.

JACOB SHANSTROM
Jacob, a twin of the two youngest of the four children of John and Gustava ANDERSON SHANSTROM was born on the home farm in Center township of Jefferson county, Iowa on January 16, 1877. All of his life was spent in this community and he passed away on the farm where he was born, on Tuesday September 12, 1939 when past 61 years of age.
On September 28, 1912 he was married to Rachael RICHARDS at Albia, Iowa and has lived happily in this union since. Three children came to gladden the home, all of whom survive. The surviving loved ones are, his sorrowing wife, Rachael, a son Richard at home; two daughters, Mrs. Madeline THOMAS of Fairfield and Florence at home. Two grandchildren Richard and Peggy THOMAS, his twin brother Isaac SHANSTROM of Fairfield and a sister Della SHANSTROM of Seattle, Washington survive him. A sister, Miss Etta SHANSTROM passed away in Seattle a few months ago. Besides these a number of relatives and friends and a wide circle of acquaintances will mourn his passing.
Mr. SHANSTROM was a highly respected farmer of Jefferson county and respected by all who knew him. He had been in failing health for some three years but not seriously ill till the past seven weeks. He passed quietly away at his home on Tuesday evening at 7:15 surrounded by his loved ones.
Services were held from the Hoskins Funeral Home of Friday afternoon, Sept. 15 conducted by S. P. Williamson, minister of the First Christian church. The hymns were sung by Mrs. Williamson and Mrs. N. Switzer with Miss Amy Williamson at the piano. Pallbearers were Joe Ball, Ed Neiswanger, Charlie Salts, William Louth, Alvin Martin and John Schlief. The remains were interred in Evergreen cemetry (sic).
