Mrs. Gus V. SCOTT, 89, long-time resident of Fairfield, died Friday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Marie MCINTOSH, 201 River St., Burlington. Behner Funeral Home. Burial will be in New Sweden Cemetery. The former Esther Ann CASSEL, Mrs. Scott was born July 28 1878 in Jefferson County, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew F. Cassel. She was the granddaughter of Peter CASSEL, leader of a group of Swedish immigrants who settled in Lockridge Township in 1845 and established the first Swedish church west of the Mississippi River. She was married Dec. 25, 1905 to Gus V. SCOTT, who preceded her in death April 15, 1967. Mr. and Mrs. SCOTT resided in Fairfield for 44 years. They were members of the Methodist Church. She is survived by three children: Mrs. MCINTOSH; Charles T. SCOTT and G. W. SCOTT, both of Winfield, and four grandchildren.
