"Fairfield Ledger", May 22, 1901, Pg. 3, Col. 4

OVER FIFTY YEARS IN FAIRFIELD. Andrew SIMONS died in this city Friday after an illness of many months. He was a native of Pennsylvania and was born January 5th, 1818. He grew to manhood in that state, and in 1845 came to this city, where he had since resided. In 1853 he was married to Miss Anna RIDER, who died about 12 years later. A daughter by this marriage, Mrs. W. W. GILL of Packwood, survives the parents.

In 1868 Mr. SIMONS was married to Miss Mary HEATER, who still resides in this city. There were two sons by this marriage, William, who lives in Chicago, and George at Trenton, Mo.... Mr. SIMONS was a carpenter and builder by trade and specimens of his handwork are to be seen in many of the older buildings in this city. The remains were interred Sunday, Rev. J. F. Magill having charge of the funeral services. (Bur. Evergreen)
