AN OLD CITIZEN GONE.

In the death of Mr. George James FEE (sic - George Jackson FEE on his gravestone), in this city on Saturday last, Jefferson county lost an old citizen, and one who was well-known and respected throughout the entire community. He was the son of Col. FEE, a soldier of the revolution, and was born in Huntingdon county, Penn. He was a soldier in the War of 1812, and came to Fairfield in 1855, where he has resided ever since, his wife dying here some years ago. He was the father of eleven children -- nine of whom are still living, several residing in this county. Capt. FEE had been a sufferer for a long time from nephritis of the kidneys and during his late illness knew that death was near. He awaited his end calmly and patiently, and passed away without a murmur. At the time of his death he was just past his 85th year. The funeral took place on Sunday, and was largely attended.

(Transcriber's note: The obituary shows his middle name as James, but his tombstone in the Old Fairfield City Cemetery reads George Jackson FEE. Buried next to his wife Mary PORTER who died Aug. 28, 1860, aged 65 years.)

*Transcribed for genealogy purposes; I have no relation to the person(s) mentioned.
