Page 3, Column 3Death of Mrs. KNEPP.
A telegram received in this city Saturday brought sad news to many friends, the death of Mrs. Mary KNEPP, wife of Henry G. KNEPP, died in Chicago that afternoon. Deceased was a daughter of the late George FEE. She was born in Huntingdon County, Pa., where she grew to womanhood. In 1848 her parents removed to this county, and she accompanied them. Here she was married to Mr. KNEPP. This city was their home for many years, but they also lived in Burlington, Ft. Madison, and other Iowa towns, and for nine years past have resided in Chicago. One child was born to them, now Mrs. M. E. GILBERT of Chicago, and it was at her home that the mother passed away. Mrs. KNEPP was sixty-three years of age. She was a twin, and it is a noteworthy fact that the other sister, Lydia, died last year, within twelve hours of the hour of Mrs. KNEPP's death, and that the dates of burial of the two sisters were just a year apart. Mrs. J. P. WRAY and William FEE, sister and brother of the deceased, are the only members of the family now living in this vicinity. Mrs. KNEPP had a wide acquaintance among the older residents of Fairfield. She was a most excellent and estimable woman, and the sympathies of many old friends will go out to the family which is bereft by her death. The remains were brought to this city for interment. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. J. F. Magill, were held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. T. R. Black Monday afternoon, and the body was laid beside those of other members of the family in the City Cemetery.
