Death of an Old Time Fairfieldian.

James EDMISTON, who resided in Fairfield from 1852 to about 1878, died at Kirksville, Mo., Sunday. He was stricken with paralysis in June last, and was not able to recover from the effects of the disease. Mr. EDMISTON was born in Gallipolis, Ohio, February 17th, 1832, and grew to manhood there. He removed to Libertyville, this county, in 1850, two years later was married to Miss Elizabeth HAMPSON, and shortly afterward removed to Fairfield. Two children by this marriage survive the father, Mrs. J. M. GOBBLE and W. A. EDMISTON of Muscatine. The remains of the mother and two other children new rest in the Evergreen Cemetery, this city. September 15th, 1880, Mr. EDMISTON was married to Mrs. Kate STAFFORD, and two children, Mary and Edward, were born to them. Mr. EDMISTON was a man of excellent character and most genial disposition, and among the older residents of Fairfield had many warm friends. His remains were brought to this city for interment Monday evening. Mrs. EDMISTON and her children, W. A. EDMISTON, John M. GOBBLE and his sons, Edwin F. and Fred E., Muscatine, were present at the funeral. The A. O. U. W. participated in the services.
