FLIGG. -- August 23, 1876, William FLIGG, infant son of G.W. & Mary FLIGG of this city.
After ten days of acute suffering, that little form so dear to father and mother the object of care and affection of all the family is gone to its Savior. No more will they enjoy its society until they pass the Jordan of Death. How sweet to know that by faithfulness in the Lord they shall again meet this dear little one of whom Jeses has said, "Of such is the kingdom of Heaven." May the promise of the gospel sustain and comfort the sorrowing family and lead them to meet again in Heaven.

Note: Buried in Old Fairfield City Cemetery, in Lot 139 W½. A cemetery reading in 1966 noted Willie died on August 24, 1876, aged 1 year, 2 months, and 12 days according to his gravestone. The spire-shaped monument for Willie and four of his siblings has been knocked over and reset without consideration to its original orientation; Willie's inscription was on the south facing and by 2012 is very weather-worn, enough so that identification of the engraving is difficult if not impossible.
