DEATH OF AN AGED MAN. William K. ALEXANDER died in this city Thursday morning, after several years of declining health. He was a native of Pennsylvania, born in Juniata County, August 31, 1821. When a lad of twelve he removed to Logan County, Ohio, with his parents, where he grew to manhood. He was married there, in 1851, to Elizabeth Ayers McCOID, a sister of the late Moses A. McCOID, who survives him. They came to Jefferson County two years later and for thirteen years lived on a farm south of the city.
The family then went to Knoxville, Ill., where its members resided for a quarter of a century, the parents finally returning to this city a few years ago. Mr. ALEXANDER was the father of five children, only two of whom are now living, Mrs. Fred COOK of Moline, Ill., and W.R.H. ALEXANDER of Washington, D.C.. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church from early manhood and followed its teachings conscientiously. The body was taken to Knoxville for burial Saturday, other members of the family having been interred there.
