Death of Mrs. BROWN.

Mrs. Margaret BROWN, wife of the late Edmund K. BROWN, died in this city Sunday morning, after an illness of six weeks from an affection of the stomach and its complications. Deceased was born in Belmont county, Ohio, June 5th, 1840, and came to Fairfield with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James JEFFERS, in 1846. The remainder of her life, with the exception of a few years, was spent here. She was married in June, 1871, and her husband died in this city in March, 1890 (sic - 1889). Three children survive the parents, Walter, Alice and Gertrude, all of whom have reached maturity and reside in Fairfield. Mrs. BROWN had a wide acquaintance in this community, where her home had been for so many years, and she was very highly esteemed among these friends for her many excellences and womanly qualities.
The remains were interred Tuesday, Rev. E. L. Schreiner conducting the funeral services.

Death of Mrs. Margaret BROWN.

After several weeks illness Mrs. Margaret BROWN died at her home in this city last Saturday night.

Mrs. Margaret BROWN was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James JEFFRIES (sic - JEFFERS), and was born in Belmont County, Ohio, June 5, 1840. She came to Iowa with her parent in 1846, and located in Fairfield. She was married to Edmund K. BROWN June 15, 1871. Shortly after their marriage they went out west where they lived for several years, then returning to this city. Fir a time Mr. BROWN was engaged in the grocery business near the "Q" depot. He died in 1889. Mrs. BROWN united with the Episcopal church in this city in early life, and was an active worker in the church until her removal west. Three children, Allie, Walter and Gertrude are left to mourn the loss of their beloved mother. Mrs. BROWN was a devoted, self-sacrificing mother, a good daughter, and a kind neighbor. She was a woman of excellent qualities and was always ready and willing to lend a helping hand whenever required. The funeral was held at the Methodist church Tuesday morning at ten o'clock, Rev. E. L. Schreiner conducting the services.
