Thur., Mar. 31, 1921, 1-4.

Wm. VOGEL died Tues. morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A. C. POLIS in Brighton. Son of Godfried and Christina VOGEL, born Jan 16 1841 in Gilford, Ohio, died at age 80-2-12. Came to Ft Madison by way of the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers and from there to Germanville by wagon with his parents in the spring of 1845. He was a carpenter by trade but gave it up later and went to farming. Married, June 13 1872 to Josephine WERNER who died May 10 1920. Their home had been on a farm near E. Pleasant Plain until about 14 years ago when they moved to Brighton. When quite young he united with the Lutheran Church at Germanville. Leaves four children: Mr Wm. F. VOGEL of Fairfield; Mrs Anna POLIS of Brighton; Mrs Ida BONAR and Mrs. Charlotte POLIS of Fairfield; six grandchildren and three brothers: Charles of Sutherin, Oregon; Henry of Florence, Neb., and Frederic of Goodland, Kan. Burial Hillcrest Cemetery, Brighton.
