Adam WILSON, born in the village of Filehne, near Landsberg, Germany, 20 July 1834, came to U.S. in 1853, landing in New York City. Shortly after which he migrated "out west" arriving at Birmingham, Iowa. He died May 22 at his home in Grinnell. Apr. 7, 1861 (sic 1862) he married Clarissa Jane BONNETT of near Libertyville, Iowa; twelve children, two of whom, Wm. Reuben and Mary Francis, died in infancy. The beloved wife and mother died Feb. 2, 1918.

Living children: Nicholas I. WILSON of Eldon; Kate of Grinnell; Hyman N. of Grinnell; Adam Jr. of Ottumwa; Charles A. of Grinnell; Miss Minnie May of St. Louis, Mo.; Mrs. Carrie BARTHOLOW of Stockport; Daniel P. of Ottumwa, and Edward John of Peoria, Ill..
