Funeral services were held today at 2 o'clock for Mrs. Absalom HESTON, 95, pioneer resident of Fairfield, who passed away Saturday evening at the Jefferson county hospital. Her death followed a serious illness of several months.
The last rites were in charge of the Rev. G. J. Dingman and burial was in Evergreen cemetery. Services were held at the Weston Behner funeral home.
Emma CARMAN, daughter of Edward and Mary CLARK CARMAN, was born in Wapello County, Iowa, July 16, 1854. She was married to Absalom HESTON October 14, 1890. He preceded her in death in 1938. One son, Albert E. lives in Portland, Oregon. Another son, Lorenzo R. HESTON, also preceded her in death. Six grandchildren are among the survivors.
She is also survived by two stepdaughters, Mrs. Mae BRYANT of Independence, Kansas, and Mrs. Pearl SMITH, Benedict, Minnesota. Mrs. Bertha HESTON, widow of a step son, William, lives in Fairfield.
She was a member of the Free Methodist Church and spent practically all her life in Fairfield.
