Page 6, Column 1Mrs. Eliza AMISS born Pendleton Co., Ky., 10 Jan 1817, died in Altoona, Polk Co., Iowa, Jan. 4, 1900, aged 82-11-24. Christian Church. Married John AMISS in 1835 and removed from Kentucky to Iowa in 1850, and will be remembered by a good many old settlers hereabout as Grandma AMISS. She moved to Altoona in 1876 and has made her home with her son, A. J. AMISS, at that place ever since.
The funeral was conducted at her son William's home in Des Moines Township Sun., Jan. 7, 1900, at 11 A.M. by Rev. W. N. Glotfelty and the remains were laid to rest beside her husband in the Fell Cemetery....
Mother of eight children, two of whom preceded her to the better land and six remain to mourn. The children who attended the funeral were: William and family of this place; Clark and A.J. of Altoona, and Perry, of Ottumwa.
