Norbert KURTZ Taken In Death

BRIGHTON, Ia. -- Norbert KURTZ, life-time resident of Jefferson county, died at 2:50 a.m. today at the Mercy hospital in Iowa City. He had been seriously ill for the past six months.

Last rites will be Monday at 10 a.m. in the St. Joseph Catholic church in East Pleasant Plain with the Rev. Henry B. Geers officiating. Burial in St. Joseph cemetery. The Rosary will be recited at the Gould Funeral Home in Brighton at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

Norbert KURTZ, 56, was born Oct. 13, 1908, on a farm south of Brighton in Jefferson county. He was the son of Walter and Mary BUREKER KURTZ. He spent his entire life in Jefferson county and was a farmer all his life, and a member of the St. Joseph church.

He was married Aug. 11, 1931, at East Pleasant Plain to Ferne COURTNEY who survives.

In addition to his wife he is survived by four children: Norbert Alan, Pleasant Plain; Mrs. Marlyn STROHMAN, Mt. Union; Mrs. Ruth KEHL, Dubuque; and Kenneth, at home.

Other survivors include eight grandchildren; four brothers, Clarence, Osceola; Ralph, Fairfield; George and Robert, both of Brighton.

He was preceded in death by one brother.
