State of Iowa, County of Jefferson, ss:
On this 28th day of June A.D. 1856, personally appeared before me, Llewellyn E. JAMES, a Notary Public... William H. SHEWARD in the twenty-second year of his age, a resident of Jefferson County... declares that he is the son of John SHEWARD, deceased.... Deponent further says that he was within the age of twenty-one years on the third day of March, 1855. He makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining the bounty land to which he may be entitled under the Act approved the 3d day of March, 1855... We, Jedediah MOUNT and Christian S. SHAFFER, residents of Jefferson County, State of Iowa, declare that the foregoing declaration was signed by William H. SHEWARD in our presence....
