Charlotte G. Johnson, 87, of Baxter, died Monday October 5, 1998, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

Following cremation rites at the Boyd-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory in Baxter, memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the Baxter Congregational United Church of Christ with Pastor Jerry Ireland officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery in Baxter.

There will be no visitation. A memorial fund has been established.

The daughter of Joseph and Mary (Petermeier) Steinberger, she was born January 10, 1911, in rural Jasper County. She attended country school in rural Jasper County and Baxter High School.

She was employed by the Baxter Telephone Company and the Post Office before retiring in 1970. She was a member of th First Christian Church of Newton.

Survivors include a sister, Beulah Ghent of Baxter; a brother, Bob Steinberger of Newton; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her son.
