Willis R. Steinberger, 75, of 215 W. 9th St. S., Former general superintendent of production at Maytag Plant II, died Tuesday evening at the Skiff Memorial Hospital.
Memorial Services for Mr. Steinberger, a resident of Newton for 38 years and former resident of Colfax, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Reese Chapel.
The Rev. David Raymond, pastor of the Congregational United Church of Christ will conduct services.
Bill Brennan will deliver the eulogy when cremated remains are intered at Graceland Cemetery on Knoxville Saturday afternoon. There will be no visitation.
Memorial contributions to the Westwood Golf Club will be accepted. Memorials may be left at the funeral home.
Survivors ar his wife, Thelma; two daughters, Mrs. Donald (Billie) Burnham of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Mrs. Paul (JoAnn) Hesson of Aurora, Illinois. Four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Arden Steinberger of Greeley, Colorado; and a sister, Mrs. Harold (Kathryn) Behrens of Newton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and a brother.
Mr. Steinberger was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ, Maytag Management Club and Westwood Golf Club. He had served on the Newton Park board for seven years and the Maytag Employee Council for a number of years.
Mr. Steinberger had been general superintendant of production of Maytag Plant 2 until retiring in 1970 after 44 years of service to the company.
The son of Joseph and Gertrude Miller Steinberger, he was born August 1, 1907 in Rockwell City. He was married to Thelma Meckley September 10, 1927 in Des Moines, Iowa.
