Harter, Corda Ellen (Meese) 1861-1916

Corda Ellen Meese was born in Somerset County, Penn., April 12th, 1861.

She came with her parents when seven years old to Iowa, which has been her home ever since.

She was united in marriage to Stillwell Harter March 22nd, 1885.

To this union were born four children: Mrs. Floy Hays, Mrs. Ina Beard, Dale and Myrna who are at home with their father. Mrs. Harter departed this life Jan. 19th, 1916, at 2 p.m. at the age of 54 years, 9 months, and 7 days. She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, four children, and six grandchildren. Also six sisters and one brother: Mrs. W. A. Witmer, Mrs. L. Rumbaugh of Mingo, Mrs. William Clark of Dallas Center, Mrs. James Eatwell of Scotts Bluff, Nebr., Mrs. R. A. Gardner of Clear Lake, Iowa, and Mrs. A. E. Eatwell of Zearing, Henry Meese of Mingo besides a host of friends.

Mrs. Harter bore great suffering during the last few weeks of illness, but bore her suffering patiently. Her thoughts even to the last seemed to be for her family. She was a devoted wife and mother and a friend to every one. Rev. Grigsby of Winterset preached the funeral sermon from the text Rev. 21:25. Interment was at Graham cemetery.
