COLFAX - William C. Cox, 79, a longtime resident of Colfax (IA), died Thursday, Dec. 9, in Des Moines General Hospital.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax.

The Rev. William Gardner, pastor of the Howard Street Christian Church in Colfax, will conduct services.

Burial will be in Colfax Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Monday and visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Survivors are his wife, Audrey "Becky", a daughter, Charlotte Carrera of Mission Viejo, Calif.; a special friend, Carolyn Ortega of Plantation, Fla.; two step-children, John Kintz of Grinnell and Ruth Kintz of Colfax; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild; five step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and two half-sisters, Mary Prosser of Greenville, Tenn.; and Beatrice Glasstetter of Chaffee, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The son of Thomas and Hazel Wade Cox, he was born Feb. 19, 1914 in Des Moines.

He was married to Audrey "Becky" Kintz Jan. 11, 1961 in Boone.

He retired as a security guard at the Maytag Co. in 1973
