Jennie Ten Hagen

PRAIRIE CITY -- Jennie Van Arkel Ten Hagen, 96, of Prairie City died Sunday, April 2, at the Clearview Manor in Prairie City.

Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Prairie City United Methodist Church.

The Rev. Al Kinrade, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City.

Memorial contributions to the Prairie City United Methodist Church will be accepted.

Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors are two sons, Max of Carlisle and Ray of Fountain Valley, Calif.; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and a niece, Ola Mae (Mrs. Dale) Messmaker of Prairie City, who was raised in the Ten Hagen home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, four brothers, a sister and a daughter, Dorothy Burns.

The daughter of Cornelius and Engelina Van Dusseldorp Van Arkel, she was born Jan. 27, 1893 in Pella.

She was married to Murray Ten Hagen Nov. 19, 1911.

They operated the Ten Hagen-De Haan Drygoods Store in Prairie City for many years.

Mrs. Ten Hagen was a member of the Prairie City United Methodist Church.
