Leslie Sutton

Leslie “Les” Sutton, 25, of 1905 S. 7th Ave. E., a lifelong resident of Newton, died Sunday evening, Nov. 12, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines of cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.

The Rev. Jerome Egel, pastor of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, will conduct services.

There will be no visitation. Visitation with the family will be held at 1905 S. 7th Ave. E.

Memorials to the organization of the donor’s choice will be accepted.

Survivors are his mother, Armelda (Mrs. Donald) Sutton of Newton; a brother, Donald K. Sutton II of Newton; and his maternal grandparents, Ed and Carol Packinson of Quincy, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald K. Sutton, Oct. 25, 1988, and paternal grandparents, Ed and Cleo Sutton.

Mr. Sutton, a mechanic at Kerm’s Conoco, was a member of the International Motor Contest Association, worked on the Kerm’s Conoco sprint car and was a member of the pit crew.

The son of Donald K. and Armelda Kling Sutton, he was born April 6, 1964 in Newton, was a 1982 graduate of Newton Community High School and attended Lincoln Technical Institute.
