Mozelle Sayre, 84, of Newton died Wednesday evening, Oct. 18, at the Skiff Medical Center.

Reese Funeral Home is handling arrangements which have not been completed.

Mozelle Sayre

Funeral services for Mozelle Coker Sayre, 84, of 1408 S. 8th Ave. E., a longtime resident of Newton, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, at Reese Funeral Chapel.

The Rev. Jerome Egel, pastor of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Palo Alto Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home until time of services. Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions to the American Heart Association may be left at the funeral home.

She died Wednesday evening at Skiff Medical Center following a heart attack.

Survivors are a son, Robert of Newton; a daughter, Betty (Mrs. Les) Yancy of Newton; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Vern, in 1982, two sisters and a brother.

Mrs. Sayre had worked for many years at Montgomery Ward Store and later she and her husband owned and operated Vern’s TV.

She was a member of the Reasnor United Methodist Church and a longtime member of the Women of the Moose.

The daughter of Charles and Emma Wheeler Coker, she was born Oct. 31, 1904 in Reasnor.

She was married to Laverne Sayre in 1953 in Marshalltown.
