William W. Shaw

William W. Shaw, 60, of 1203 S. 14th Ave. W., died at his home Monday evening, Oct. 9.

Graveside rites will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home after noon Wednesday. Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

William W. Shaw

Graveside rites for William W. Shaw, 60, of 1203 S. 14th Ave. W., co-owner of Nelson Manor Nursing Home and co-owner of the Careage of Newton Nursing Home currently under construction, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, at Newton Union Cemetery.

The Rev. H. Eugene Cedarholm, pastor of the First Lutheran Church, will conduct services.

Masonic services will be conducted by the Newton Masonic Lodge 59 AF and AM at
7 p.m. today at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.

Visitation with the family will be held at the funeral home following Masonic services.

Memorials to a fund in his name will be accepted.

He died following a heart attack Monday evening at his home.

Survivors are his wife, Mary Ann; a son, William David of Verona, Wis.; a daughter, Sheryl Trease, of Newton; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Shaw was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Newton Masonic Lodge 59 AF and AM, Za-Ga-Zig Shrine Temple Ancient and Arabic Order of the Mystic Shrine of Des Moines, Gebel chapter 12 Royal Arch Masons, Malachi Council 55 Royal and Select Masters Select and Oriental Commandary 22 Knights Templar.

A Navy veteran, Mr. Shaw had worked at the Parsons Co. and was a products specialist in the service area at the Maytag Co., retiring in 1977.

The son of Frank H. and Grace I. Currier Shaw, he was born May 3, 1929 in Enid, Okla., and was graduated from Mitchellville Community High School.

He was married to Mary Ann McMains Feb. 12, 1955 in Papillion, Neb.

He moved to Newton in 1957.
