Dale Sutphin

Dale Sutphin, 66, 1800 S. 4th Ave. E., a resident of Newton most of his life, died Saturday, Aug. 19, at Skiff Medical Center after suffering a heart attack.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the First Assembly of God Church.

The Rev. Robert Stewart, pastor of the First Assembly of God Church of Normal, Ill., will conduct services. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home after noon today and visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials in his name may be left at the funeral home.

Survivors are his wife, Marian; three sons, Tom of Missouri and Dan and Randy both of Newton; a daughter, Judy Baker of Des Moines; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, S/Sgt. Duane L. Sutphin, and a brother, Jason L. Sutphin.

Mr. Sutphin was a member of the First Assembly of God Church.

He was an employee of the Maytag Co. for three years and was a welder at the Parsons Co. for 26 years before his retirement in 1972.

The son of Charles and Mina Wolf Sutphin, he was born Jan. 3, 1923 in Valley Junction (West Des Moines) and attended Valley Junction (West Des Moines) schools.

He was married to Marian St. John May 8, 1943 in Bethany, Mo.
