CARLISLE -- Lillian Marie Springer, 92, a former resident of Newton, died Thursday evening, Aug. 10, at the Carlisle Care Center in Carlisle.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Palo Alto Cemetery south of Newton.

Friends may call after 3 p.m. Saturday at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton

Lillian M. Springer

CARLISLE -- Graveside rites for Lillian Marie Springer, 92, of Carlisle Care Center, a former resident of Newton, were held this morning, Aug. 14, at Palo Alto Cemetery, south of Newton.

Visitation with the family was held Sunday at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton.

She died of heart failure Thursday at the Care Center.

Memorial contributions to the Carlisle Care Center will be accepted.

Survivors are three nieces, Joan Springer of Wheaton, Ill., Janet Halligan of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Darlene Me Croskey of Spokane, Wash.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Earny, and a sister, Ida.

Miss Springer had worked on a farm, caring for her mother, and at the Maytag Hotel prior to retiring in 1959.

The daughter of William and Amelia Brandt Springer, she was born Jan. 31, 1897 in Jasper County.

She had lived in Laurel, Murphy and Newton prior to moving to Carlisle in 1978.
