BAXTER -- Ethel M. Hill Sietmann, 91, of Colonial Manor in Baxter, a former longtime resident of Laurel, died of heart failure Tuesday, July 4, at the Manor.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Laurel United Methodist Church.

The Rev. Terri Elder, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in Laurel.

Friends may call at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton after 8 a.m. Thursday. Visitation with the family will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions to the Laurel United Methodist Church or the organization of the donor’s choice may be left at the church or at the funeral home.

Survivors are a son, Richard of Haverhill; three daughters, Betty (Mrs. Wendell) Benskin of Laurel and Beverly (Mrs. Arthur) De Witt and Joyce (Mrs. David) Paul, both of Gilman; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.

Also surviving are a brother, Roy Hill of Yakima, Wash., and two sisters, Bessie Hill of Newton and Dorothy Cavell of Laurel.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Carl A., May 12, 1964, a step-daughter, Fern Atkinson, a brother Wesley, and an infant brother, Donald.

Mrs. Sietmann, a homemaker, was a member of the Laurel United Methodist Church and was an honorary member of the United Methodist Women.

The daughter of Phillip Sidney and Ida Ellen Ogg Hill, she was born Dec. 22, 1897 on a farm near Newton.

She was married to Carl A. Sietmann June 10, 1920 in Clinton.

Mrs. Sietmann was a resident of Jasper County prior to her marriage. After her marriage she lived in Laurel prior to moving to Baxter 15 years ago.
