Nettie Bunse

Mrs. Herman (Nettie) Bunse, 91, a resident of Grand View Heights in Marshalltown since November and former resident of Prairie Village in Newton, died Wednesday evening, March 28, at Marshalltown.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 31, at the First Lutheran Church in Newton.

The Rev. H. Eugene Cedarholm, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorial contributions to the First Lutheran Chruch will be accepted. They may be left at the church or the Reese Funeral Home.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. Friday, March 20.

Survivors are a son, Carl of Rt. 5, Newton; a daughter Mrs. Delbert (Doris) Kneeland of Marshalltown; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Henry Iske of Omaha, Neb.; and a sister, Louise Schlomer of Helminghausen, Germany.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and a sister.

Mrs. Bunse was a mbmer of the First Lutheran Church, the Lutheran Church Women, a member of the Oakridge Grange for more than 60 years, and a member of the Oak Ridge Homemakers Club, Sunshine Guild, Dorcus Sewing Group and 60 Plus Class.

The daughter of Carl and Caroline Bunse Iske, she was born Oct. 13, 1892 in Helminghausen, Germany, and came to Newton in 1910.

SHe was married March 1 1916 in Newton. Following their marriage, she and her husband farmed northwest of Newton until retiring and moving to Newton in 1946. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa, March 29, 1984.
