COLFAX -- Verla M. Kern Pease of Colfax died Friday, July 28, at the Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Howard Street Christian Church in Colfax.

The Rev. Michael Orthel, pastor of the Colfax United Methodist Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Mc Keefer, north of Colfax.

Visitation with the family will be held from 7 - 9 p.m. today at the Wallace-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax.

Memorial contributions to the church will be accepted.

Survivors are two sons, Claire Robert Pease and James Pease, both of Colfax; a daughter, Janet Wanes of Watertown, S.D.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Audra Shissler and Lulu Beals, both of Colfax.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Mrs. Pease, a former clerk at Weirick Drug Store, was a member of the Howard St. Christian Church, Order of Eastern Star, Poweshiek Township Women’s Club and was a charter member of the Jasper County Historical Society.

The daughter of William and Mary Kern, she was born July 17, 1896 in State Center.

She was married to Claire Pease April 18, 1917 in Elkhart.
