JEWELL -- Walter E. “Bo” Paulson, 85, a former longtime resident of Kellogg who has been making his home with his daughter in Jewell since February, 1988, died of cancer Monday afternoon, May 8, at the Story City Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Reese Funeral Home in Newton.

The Rev. Craig Peters, pastor of the Kellogg United Methodist Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Our Silent City Cemetery in Kellogg.

Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Wednesday. Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions to the Kellogg Historical Society may be left at the funeral home.

Survivors are two sons, Donald of Kellogg and Royce of Frederick, Md.; a daughter, Beverly (Mrs. James) Marsh of Jewell; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Lois, February, 1988, a brother, and five sisters.

Mr. Paulson, a member of the Kellogg Historical Society and an avid fisherman and hunter, was employed by Midwest Manufacturing in Kellogg for 25 years and was a self-employed carpenter for 25 years, retiring in 1980.

The son of Paul and Anna Thygerson Paulson, he was born Sept. 8, 1903 in Jasper County and was a 1922 graduate of Kellogg Community High School.

He was married to Lois Hum June 12, 1929 in Buffalo Center.
