Funeral services for Edward R. Powell, 75, of 2524 Southwest 8th, Des Moines, a former resident of Newton, were held Monday, Sept. 18 at the Southtown Funeral Home in Des Moines.

The Rev. Gene Anderson of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Indianola, conducted services.

He died Friday at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines.

Survivors are his wife, Bessie; four grandchildren; a brother, Russell of Des Moines; and a sister, Margarite Cline of San Diego, Calif.

The son of Russell and Pearl Peters Powell, he was born Dec. 11, 1913 in Marshalltown.
