Jack F. Spieker, 66, of 206 N. 5th Ave. W., a resident of Newton for 18 months, died of pneumonia Monday afternoon, Feb. 20, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Des Moines.

Graveside rites will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Veterans Section of Newton Union Cemetery.

The Rev. David Raymond, pastor of the Congregational United Church of Christ, will conduct services.

Military services will be conducted by the Newton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1655.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. today.

Memorials in his name will be accepted.

Survivors are his wife, Madge; a step-son, William Simpson of Galena, Kan.; a step-daughter, Sandra (Mrs. Larry) Brown of Fort Worth, Texas; five step-grandchildren; two brothers, Irvin Spieker of Buffalo Center and Merlin Spieker of Forest City; two nephews; and a niece.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Spieker, a member of the Newton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1655, was baptized at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Buffalo Center.

He had been a truck driver for the Gilchrist Lumber Co. in Des Moines for many years.

The son of Theodore and Anna Spieker, he was born Oct. 3, 1922 in Buffalo Center, attended Buffalo Center Schools and was graduated from Buffalo Center Community High School.

He was married to Madge M. Meyer Oct. 6, 1970 in Omaha, Neb.

Mr. Spieker moved to Newton from Galena, Kan.
