Harold A. "Tiny" Jackson, 77, of Newton died Thursday, Nov. 3, 2005, in the Monarch Wing of Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

Graveside services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Newton Union Cemetery with Chaplain Merle Smith officiating. His body has been cremated. Wallace Family Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

The family will greet friends at the graveside service and at the Sugar Grove Winery, where they will have lunch following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Monarch Wing of Skiff Medical Center. Memorials may be left at the funeral home.

The son of Clifford C. and Laura K. (Trueper) Jackson, he was born July 15, 1928, in Newton. He was a lifelong resident of Newton and graduated from Newton Senior High School in 1945. On Dec. 28, 1946, he married Ruby Kathleen Sheeler in Hiawatha, Kan. He was a planner for the Maytag Company for 30 years and retired in 1985. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, blue grass music, polka music and exploring the Internet. He also enjoyed reading and was an avid Democrat.

Survivors include his wife; a son, John W. (Janet) Jackson of Owasso, Okla.; two daughters, Judy K. (Robert) Kinney of Knoxville and Jane (William D.) Meyer of Longmont, Colo.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Robert D. (Gwen) Jackson of Kalamazoo, Mich., and Curt C. Jackson of Newton.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
