Funeral services for David Jerome Davis, 51, a resident of Newton for five years, were held Thursday, Nov. 15, at the Williams Funeral Home in Knoxville.
Elder Arlen Amsberry conducted services. Burial was in the Newton Union cemetery.
He died Monday, Nov. 12, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Des Moines.
Survivors are his wife, Virginia; a son, David Samuel of Sedalia, Mo.; a grandson; and his mother, Lucille.
Also surviving are two sisters, Ramona James of Grinnell and Emma Lou Burk of Marysville; a brother, Howard of Knoxville; a step-son, Mike; a step-daughter, Debbie, of Oskaloosa; three step-grandchildren; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and a son, Jerome Kelly.
Mr. Davis, a shortime employee of Newton Manufacturing before serving in Navy for a few years, had been an employee of the Maytag Co. for 31 years.
The son of Cedric Otis and Grace Lucille Wallace Davis, he was born June 17, 1933 in Marysville in Marion County, attended Marysville grade school and was a 1951 graduzte of Lovilla High School.
He was married to Virginia Williams Garner June 30, 1979. ~ The Newton Daily News, November 16, 1984.
