Funeral service for Freda M. Van Der Kamp, 79, of Pella, who passed away Aug. 26, were held Thursday, Aug. 28, at the First Reformed Church in Prairie City. Rev. Andy Kamphuis officiated.

Burial services were held at the Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City. Casket bearers were Mark Van Der Kamp, Ryan Van Der Kamp, Kris Van Der Kamp, Jimmy Van Der Kamp, Steve Van Veen, and Chris Winslow. Honorary Bearer was Cody Van Der Kamp.

Freda M. Van Der Kamp was born on June 29, 1924 in Pella to Gary and Clara (Van Steenis) Van Zee. She graduated from Pella High School. On September 17, 1941 she was united in marriage to Donald Van Der Kamp in Pella.

She moved with her family to Prairie City in 1959. Freda worked as a housewife and also as a former restaurant owner in Prairie City. She also was a member of Trinity Reformed Church in Pella.

Freda is survived by her five sons, Alan and his wife Lorena of Prairie City, Jerry and his wife Char of Truro, Carl and his wife Pam of Prairie City, Caryl and his wife Penny of Monroe and Duane of West Palm Beach, Flor.; a daughter, Joyce Kain Near and her husband Ken of Urbandale; 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1999, a daughter Donna Zepeda in 1999 and two brothers, Melvin and Arthur.

The family has designated memorials to the Prairie City Ambulance Fund or Hospice of Pella.
