MONROE - Harold J. Heyveld, 76, of Monroe died Tuesday, Aug. 12, at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Monroe First Baptist Church with Pastor Jack McCullough officiating. Burial will be at Silent City Cemetery in Monroe. Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe is handling arrangements.

Friends may call after noon Thursday at the funeral home where the family will be available from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Memorials will be accepted to the Monroe First Baptist Church or Monroe Emergency Unit.

The son of Walter and Alide (Rowe) Heyveld, he was born Dec. 10, 1926, in Pella. On March 12, 1949, he married Donna McConeghey in Monroe. He was a resident of Pella until 1951, when he moved to Monroe. He worked for the Jasper County Road Department, PAG Seeds and also was a farmer. Mr. Heyveld was a member of the Monroe First Baptist Church and Fred Slayden Post American Legion in Monroe.

Survivors include his wife; two sons and daughters-in-law, Harold D. "George" and Connie Heyveld of Grinnell and Galen and Tammy Heyveld of Newton; a daughter and son-in-law, Gloria and Marvin Bishop of Newton; five grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Lou Ver Meer of Pella.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, two brothers, one step-granddaughter and two great grandsons.
